Madison Cowan Studio LLC offers private instruction for students ages 10 and up in oil painting, printmaking, and drawing.
Whether you're beginning your artistic journey or looking to deepen an existing creative practice, private lessons provide personalized, hands-on instruction tailored to your goals and experience. Each lesson builds upon previously established skills, subject matter, and techniques, allowing students to grow with confidence through a thoughtful and encouraging learning experience.
Studio class sizes can range from 2-5 students.
Private lessons are available year-round by appointment and are customized to each student's goals, pace, and interests.

Mediums
Oil Painting
Learn to paint from life while developing strong observational skills, thoughtful compositions, and an understanding of color theory. Students explore classical painting techniques alongside personal creative expression, building the confidence and technical foundation needed to create meaningful, original works of art.
Printmaking
Discover the art of relief printmaking through linoleum carving, inking, and hand-printing techniques. Experiment with mark-making, texture, pattern, and color while designing one-of-a-kind prints. Students develop both technical skills and their own creative voice, fostering a lasting appreciation for the printmaking process.
Intermediate Drawing
Develop strong observational drawing skills through traditional still life studies and master drawings. Students strengthen their understanding of proportion, composition, value, tone, light, and shadow while refining mark-making and rendering techniques. Through guided instruction and studies of historical artists, students build a solid technical foundation and greater confidence in their own artistic practice.

Group Lessons are offered on a set weekly schedule.
Mondays & Wednesdays: Morning, afternoon, and evening availability
Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays: Flexible after-school lesson times
Weekends: Available upon request
Additional lesson dates, class times, and custom bookings may be arranged by request through Madison Cowan Studio LLC, subject to availability.
Charter School vending
In-Person Instruction: All instruction and services provided are in-person instruction, held at Madison Cowan Studio LLC 2024 20th Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
ALL services provided to Charter School Families are general education services only.

Cost per student is $95.00 and all materials provided by the studio.
All sales are final. No refunds offered.

Lessons on select Monday-Friday are offered at minimum 2 hours to 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Our classes are designed for youth ages 10 and up, with some courses divided into ages 10–13 and 14+ depending on the medium and level of instruction. We also offer the flexibility to schedule multiple class days together for families who prefer to book a series of lessons or a multi-day learning experience.
