Madison Cowan Studio is an independent art practice centered on plein air work, oil painting, and commissioned artwork. Rooted in an exploration of place, atmosphere, and the relationship between people and their environments, the studio's work celebrates the beauty and complexity of the world around us.
Through the Plein Air Club, we foster a community of artists who gather to observe, paint, and grow in their creative practice. Whether working outdoors in the landscape or developing skills in the studio, we believe in the value of consistent practice, shared experiences, and learning to see the world with greater attention and curiosity.
Alongside community painting opportunities, Madison Cowan Studio offers original oil paintings and private commissions, collaborating with clients to create thoughtful, enduring works of art. Our practice remains grounded in the belief that art deepens our connection to place, invites meaningful reflection, and creates opportunities for people to engage more fully with the world around them.
About Madison
Madison Cowan is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and advocate whose practice spans oil painting, printmaking, illustration, and photography. She founded Madison Cowan Studio in 2024 with a focus on expanding equitable access to the arts, particularly for individuals with physical, cognitive, and learning differences, alongside broader community engagement.
Cowan’s work engages themes of impressionism, environmental awareness, and the evolving relationship between urban and rural landscapes. Through observational and process-driven approaches, she translates lived experience and environment into expressive visual forms.
Her practice is informed by lived experience with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and ADHD, which she regards as integral to her creative thinking and artistic development. These perspectives also shape her pedagogical approach, emphasizing accessibility, adaptability, and inclusive arts education.
Across both studio practice and teaching, Cowan positions art as an accessible and transformative medium - to fosters connection, learning, and creative agency beyond conventional barriers.
